Az ACIDIC TASTE két artist-run művészeti pólus, a Los Angeles-i Durden and Ray valamint a budapesti MŰTŐ, második közös kiállítása. A kiállítás a frusztrációhoz köthető pozitív és negatív tapasztalatokat dekonstruálja, és elemzi azokat az állapotokat, amikor a frusztráció átalakul cselekvéssé.
Az ACIDIC TASTE-n bemutatott művek a stressz, csalódás és szorongás különböző forrásból táplálkozó állapotait mutatják. Hogy hogyan éljük át ezeket a frusztrációval teli pillanatokat vagy éveket azt az életkorunk, a kulturális szokásaink és a környezetünk is befolyásolja. A változó médiafogyasztás és a minket érő ingerek is erős hatással vannak arra, hogy mindezt milyen intenzitással éljük meg és mit kezdünk vele.
Romhány Veronika Nimova Projecktjének 3D videójában a dekonstrukció, a testhez és az etikához való megszokott viszonyok negligálása a válasz; Agg Lili biológiai szövetekből, emlékképekből épülő térbeli festményei a töredezett identitást és a poszthumán valóság frusztráló légkörét tükrözik; Balázs Nikolett játékos, mégis aktuális szociális lenyomatot megörökítő munkái, a személyes történetekben és az anyag kézzelfoghatóságában talál támaszt és inspirációt; David Leapman egy mindenhová és sehová se vezető labirintust fest, ahol a részlet egy olyan egészet hoz létre, amelyet mielőtt felfoghatnánk szertefoszló kárpitként szétesik.

ACIDIC TASTE – Exploring How Frustration Affects the Creative Process
Durden and Ray presents Acidic Taste , a collaborative exhibition between the Los Angeles-based artist collective and MŰTŐ of Budapest, Hungary, that explores the positive and negative experiences with frustration. Works from Acidic Taste reflect on issues of stress, frustration, and anxiety from multiple sources. While recognizing the beneficial effects of frustration, this exhibition examines how age, cultural heritage, and environment affect perception through the use of various perspectives and media.
Examples of the work include Veronika Romhany’s (aka Vera Nimova) 3D based lo-fi videos that relate to deconstruction, self-destruction, and negation with relation to the body and ethics; Lili Agg’s spatial paintings of abstracted tissues reflect on the fragmented identity and the frustrating atmosphere of post-human reality; Nikolett Balázs’ playful yet socially-engaged paintings based on memories of domestic labor and the occasional pique spawned from working with tactile materials during her formative years; and David Leapman paintings present a labyrinth of possibilities that lead to everywhere and nowhere, where the sum of the parts create a whole that then disintegrates into a perceptible tapestry.
At the center of Acidic Taste is the methodology of deconstruction in understanding, mediating, while ultimately transforming frustration into a source of creativity.
